Learn More About Your Journey

We want you to feel comfortable and informed before we begin.

We were not born into this world with an instruction manual.

It is natural to find ourselves wondering, “Why did I do that?” or “Why can’t I just get over it?” Sometimes, it feels like nothing will ever be different, and you might think, “I just can’t see how things would ever change.”

At Kirkland EMDR Counseling, we believe that while we didn't get that instruction manual, we can learn how to read our own systems.

A Tailored Approach to Healing

EMDR therapy follows a standard 8-Phase Protocol, but at our practice, it is strictly tailored to your needs. We go at your pace to support your healing journey—we never rush the process.

Through our work together, you will:

  • Learn practical tools to manage distress.

  • Gain awareness of the root causes of your experiences.

  • Understand your body’s response to stress, trauma, and anxiety.

How It Works: Rewiring the Brain

This evidence-based model provides a wealth of tools to help you learn how to relax, enjoy the present moment, and rewire your brain so the past and the fear of the future are no longer in control.

EMDR integrates Bilateral Stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help keep you grounded in the "now," rather than being trapped in the past or anxious about what is to come. To enhance your experience and provide a comprehensive toolkit, we also integrate other effective therapies, including:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

  • DBT Skills (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

  • Mindfulness practices

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
