Accelerate Your Healing Without Leaving Your Therapist
You don’t have to choose between your trusted talk therapist and the breakthrough relief of EMDR.
At Kirkland EMDR Counseling, we understand that the relationship you have with your primary therapist is invaluable. You have built trust, history, and a strong foundation over time. However, you may find yourself hitting a wall when it comes to processing deep-rooted trauma, specific phobias, or stuck points.
That is where Adjunct EMDR comes in. Think of us as a specialist you visit for a specific procedure while keeping your primary care doctor. We come in to do the focused trauma work, and you return to your primary therapist to integrate those changes.
Who Is This For?
Adjunct EMDR is a perfect fit if:
You love your current therapist: You have a great connection and do not want to stop seeing them.
You feel "stuck": Despite years of talk therapy, certain traumatic memories or bodily reactions won't budge.
You have a specific target: You are dealing with a distinct event (accident, assault, medical trauma) or a specific phobia.
You want results: You are ready to do deep, intensive work to move past a hurdle.
How It Works: A Collaborative Approach
Since we are a specialized teletherapy group practice, we make this process seamless and accessible. We view your primary therapist as a partner, not a competitor.
1. The Consultation We meet with you to discuss your history and identify the specific targets we will work on to ensure EMDR is the right clinical fit.
2. Coordination of Care With your permission, we connect with your primary therapist to establish goals. We ensure we are aligned and that you have the necessary support system in place.
3. The EMDR Processing We begin our focused work via secure video. This may look like weekly sessions or longer "intensive" blocks. We focus strictly on the trauma processing (the "heavy lifting").
4. The Integration Between our sessions, you continue seeing your primary therapist. You will discuss the insights and shifts that happen during EMDR with them.
5. Completion Once the targeted trauma is reprocessed, our work concludes. You return to your primary therapist full-time, often finding that your sessions are now lighter and more productive.
Why Choose Kirkland EMDR Counseling?
"We are trauma specialists who respect the work you have already done."
Targeted Focus, At Your Pace: Unlike general talk therapy, our time is dedicated to specific trauma targets. However, we know that safety is the prerequisite for healing. We take the time necessary to understand your history and build resources, moving at a speed that respects your nervous system.
Telehealth Convenience: Processing trauma takes energy. Our secure video platform allows you to engage in this work from your safe space, without the stress of commuting.
Ethical Partnership: We have a strict "no-poaching" policy. We are here to support your relationship with your primary provider, not disrupt it.

Good Faith Estimate Notice
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
